The Default Search Scope setting controls where a search starts when a user searches from your website's homepage.
You can configure this in CMS > Settings > Search.
Only users with Super Admin or Admin roles can access CMS Settings to configure search scope.
Default Search Scope Options
The Default Search Scope toggle gives you two options for where a search begins:
Current organization only - The search queries only the organization the user is currently on. For example, if a visitor is on Brookwood School's site, results will only come from Brookwood School.
All selected organizations - The search queries all organizations you have configured in the Search Results section below. This allows cross-site searching, such as returning district-level content when searching from a school site.
Configuring Search Results
The Search Results section lets you choose which organizations appear when a user searches your site. This list applies when All selected organizations is the active scope.
Navigate to CMS > Settings > Search.
Under Default search scope, select either Current organization only or All selected organizations.
Under Search results, use the Appears in search toggles to enable or disable each organization.
Use the Select All toggle at the top of the list to enable or disable all organizations at once.
Changes are saved automatically.
Example Use Cases
School-only search: Select Current organization only to keep search results scoped to just the school a visitor is browsing, preventing results from other schools or the district from appearing.
District-wide search: Select All selected organizations and enable all schools and the district organization. Users searching from any school site will see results from across the district.
Curated cross-site search: Select All selected organizations and enable only specific organizations (e.g., the current school plus the district) to provide targeted cross-site results without including every school.
