Audiences

Audiences is a space that allows you to connect your organization or campus Brand with specific groups interested in your Newsletters. Newsletters are delivered via email.

Audiences can be created in one of two ways. If you have access to Alerts, you're able to designate Call Lists as being accessible in Newsletters. Additionally, you can manually upload a .CSV file containing email addresses.

Creating an Audience

There are two ways of creating an Audience in Newsleters. It is important to remember that, whichever method you choose, email addresses must be present in the Audience.

Note: Newsletters are delivered via email, so without a designated Email column, Newsletters won't be successfully sent.

The two types of Audience Creation:

Manually Uploading an Audience

First, click on the Create Audience button in the upper right corner of the Audiences section of Engage.

Adding from a .CSV file

First, add the Audience name. Next, identify the Source File. You can drag and drop a .csv file, or click Select File to upload it from your computer.

Audiences must be added in a spreadsheet saved as a .CSV file type in order to upload successfully.

After your file has been uploaded, select Yes if your file contains headers, or No if the data in your .CSV file begins on the first row. Either way, you'll need to click the dropdown beneath Email column in order to identify which column on your file contains email addresses.

At this time, only one email address column can be identified.

Saving a Manually Uploaded Audience

After uploading the file and identifying which column contains email address, you'll need to associate the Audience with a Brand.

Under Brand Access, use the search bar, or click the checkboxes beside the Brands you'd like to have access to the Audience you added. One Audience can be associated with multiple Brands.

Click Create, and your Audience is now ready to be used!

Editing an Audience

In order to edit an Audience, click into the Audience's name. Then, select the Edit option. You'll be able to adjust the name of the Audience, replace the existing .CSV file, and update Brand Access.

Click Save Changes in order to finalize your updates.

Deleting an Audience

In order to permanently delete an Audience, hover over the Audience you'd like to remove. A Trashcan icon will appear.

Select the icon. A note will appear reminding you that the Audience will now longer be accessible to any Brands.

Select Archive one more time to delete the Audience.

Unlike Brands, an Audience is not able to be recovered within Engage once it is removed.
