News Feed

News is a great place to share information about the big events happening in your community on your website, app, and social media platforms.

News is the best way to post descriptive long-form content to your audience through multiple channels. News will appear on your website, app, and can be shared to social media. When a member of your community clicks on a News article they will be brought back to the homepage of the site that posted it.

While News is great for richer long form posting. Live Feed is the perfect place for quick updates and alerts.


Creating a News Article

Add a Feature Image

This photo will appear as your article's thumbnail and will be displayed above the text content. This image will additionally be used when posting to Facebook, Twitter, and sharing a news article link to others.

A crosshair + mark will appear in the middle of your photo, drag this up and down to choose where the News article photo centers on your image.

If you need to change the photo after you've uploaded it, use the Replace button. The tools to the right of the Replace button include crop, and rotation to help manipulate your image. If you would like to revert changes before hitting Upload, click Reset.

Enter Alt Text below the image to describe what is being shown in the image and if any text is included on the image, it is required you type the same text here to make sure low-vision users can be described the contents of an image.

Click Upload to finish adding the image.

Add a Title

Create a title to be shown alongside your article, this is a required field that will appear in the article, and on your website, app, and other websites that paste a news link on.

Write your Content

This is where you will add the content of your article.

Content supported includes:

  • Style - Bold, Italicized, Strikethrough

  • Alignment - Left, Centered, Right

  • Lists - Bulleted and Numbered

  • Horizontal Rule / Separator Line

  • Outdenting and Indenting

  • Links/Hyperlinks

  • HTML Code Toggle

  • Tables

  • Photos inline with text

  • Video links to YouTube and Vimeo

Add Profile/Posted As

Choose which Profile you want to appear as the author of your article. Your default Profile will automatically be selected, but you can switch to another Profile by clicking the drop-down arrow or by clicking your Profile picture.

Additional profiles can be created by clicking into the Posted As drop down and selecting Add new profile, or by clicking your name in top right corner of any page and Managing your Profile.

Post to Social Media

This is an option field where you can use the buttons selected to share your article to Facebook and/or Twitter.

Add Tags (Filters)

Filters allow your community to easily sort through News content to find the information most relevant to them. Tagging a post with any applicable filters will allow someone to choose subjects such as "Important News" or "Weather Alerts."


Schedule or Publish a News Article

When you are finished creating your article, click the Publish button to post the story to your website and app, as well as any social media channels you may have selected. The News article will appear at the top of the News section once published.

To Schedule an article for a later time there is a section at the bottom of the News Article creation page, labeled Schedule to Publish.

The options will be:

  • Right Now - this will allow you to post the article now.

  • Schedule - this will give you a date and time picker to set a future post

  • Backdate - this will give you a date and time picker to backdate a post


Schedule to Close

Archiving an article will remove the post from public view on your website and move the post to the Archived tab. If your article was posted to social media, it will break the article link and will not be viewable once archived.



Drafting an Article

When finishing a News article, if you aren't ready to Publish or Schedule for later, you have the option to Save as Draft.

Saving as a Draft will allow you to pick up where you left off by finding the draft in the Drafts section, drafts can be found on the main landing page for News Feed.


Editing a News Article

To edit a News article, hover your cursor over the News article you intend to edit. Two icons will appear on the right-hand side: a pencil icon, and a box icon. Click the pencil icon to edit the article.


You will be taken to a separate page that will allow you to edit your News article.


When you are finished editing your article, click the Update button to save your changes.


Accounts with the User role can only able to edit News articles that they created.


Archiving a News Article

To archive a News article, hover your cursor over the News article you intend to archive. Two icons will appear on the right-hand side: a pencil icon, and a box icon. Click the box can icon to archive the article.


A pop-up will appear in the center of your screen that gives the following warning:

"Archiving an article will remove the post from public view on your website and move the post to the Archived tab. If your article was posted to social media, it will break the article link and will not be viewable once archived."


Pinning a News Article

Our platform offers the ability to pin News articles so they remain at the top of the list of News articles.

By default, news articles are displayed in chronological order, with the latest article appearing first. This automatic arrangement ensures users see the most recent updates instantly.


To Pin

Hover your cursor over the article you intend to pin. Click the push pin icon that appears on the top left side. The selected article will be pinned to the top of your News section until another article is pinned, or until it is unpinned.

Changes to the pinned status take effect immediately, ensuring the selected article is instantly prioritized.

To Unpin

Click the push pin icon on the pinned News article. Doing so will return the article to its chronological order. Alternatively, you can reorganize articles by editing their publication dates. Navigate to the News Post edit page, adjust the publication date near the bottom of the page, and confirm the changes. Articles with more recent dates will take precedence over older ones.
