Using the Homepage Gallery

In the Gallery you have the option to upload either single or multiple images.

There are two ways to upload:

  • Drag and drop the images into the designated upload area

  • Click to select items from your computer

Please note that images should be in PNG or JPEG format and must not exceed a maximum size of 10MB.

If your gallery currently contains no images, you'll encounter an open upload area where you can add images.

If images are already present in the gallery, you will need to click Upload Photos located in the top right corner of the screen.

Add Alt Text

After selecting your images, a pop-up window titled Add Images will load, allowing you to add alternative text or Alt Text for each image.

1. This text should describe the image and is important for creating a site that is accessible to visually or cognitively impaired users.

2. It is required that you click through each picture and add "Alt Text".

3. You will not be able to continue until you do so.

4. A red outline around a picture indicates that "Alt Text" still needs to be added.

Editing and Rearranging Gallery Images

It's easy to go back and edit an image after you've added it to the Gallery. In fact, editing is the only way to access important tools that are not available when you first upload the image, such as cropping and rotating.

To edit an image in your Gallery:

  1. Select the preview image from the main gallery page.

  2. Click the editing icon (pencil) in the top left corner of the image.

  3. This will open the "Edit Image" pop-up window.

How to Rotate a Gallery Image

Rotating allows you to change the position of images after they've been uploaded.

Click on either of the rotation icons at the lower right of the screen.

1. The image will rotate either clockwise or counterclockwise by 90 degrees, depending on the button clicked. Each following click will rotate it another 90 degrees.

2. If you decide you want to return the image to its original position, click the "Reset" button.

How to Replace a Gallery Image

To the lower left, next to the rotate buttons, you'll also find a button titled Replace. This button allows you to replace the image entirely without the need to delete it first.

1. Click the Replace button, and a pop-up window will appear, allowing you to select a new image from your computer.

2. Once you've selected an image, it will replace the one you're currently viewing.

How to Crop a Gallery Image

Cropping allows you to choose exactly what part of a photo appears in the gallery window.

1. Drag the highlighted area to display the section of the photo you want to showcase.

2. Grab a corner of the highlighted area and resize it if you want to zoom in on a section of your photo. When you do this, the highlight will maintain the same aspect ratio as the gallery itself.

3. Once an item is cropped, the original image is replaced with the cropped version. Double-check to make sure you've selected the right portion.
