Brands is the component of Newsletters that allows you to establish consistent formatting for your Newsletters with unique assets such as brand name, logo, primary color, link color, and contact information. Once a Brand is created, an Audience can be associated with it, and it can be applied to a Newsletter.
In order for a Newsletter to be created, a Brand must be created first.
Creating a Brand
To create a new Brand within Engage, select Create Brand in the upper right corner of your Brand dashboard. Then follow the individual steps:
Add Brand Name
Add Brand Name
The first editable Brand asset is the Brand's Name. The Name allows you to consistently communicate the organization, campus, or entity who is sending a newsletter. Regardless of a newsletter's name or content, the Brand name is displayed in the upper left corner of the newsletter.
Add Primary Color and Link Color
Add Primary Color and Link Color
While the newsletter building tools will allow you to further customize font colors, you are able to define a Primary Color and a Link Color under Brand assets.
The Primary Color determines the default accents colors throughout the newsletter. The Link Color defines how hyperlinks display.
Note: Links will always be displayed as text, so it is important to choose a color that is dark enough to be viewed against your background. It also helps people with low visibility if that color is different from black to help distinguish that there is an action for the user if the text is clicked.
Upload Logo and Favicon
Upload Logo and Favicon
Logos display in the upper light corner of a newsletter, beside your established Brand Name. The Brand Logo will also appear in a newsletter's footer.
Favicons are the small icons that display next to a tab's name in an internet browser.
To upload both, you'll need to choose the file from your computer, and either drag and drop it into the designated logo space, or click the Select File option. Files must be a .png or .jpg in order to upload successfully.
Share with Organization(s)
Share with Organization(s)
Once you've fine-tuned the appearance of your Brand, you'll need to indicate which organizations will have the ability to use it as a basis for their newsletter.
You can associate one brand with multiple organizations. For example, a coach could share a brand called Football Updates with middle school, junior high, and high school organizations.
Once you click into the Share with Organizations drop down, you can either scroll to the organization you need, type the first letters to pull up a search option, or you can simply choose Select All in order for the brand to be accessible by each organization.
Add Contact Preferences
Add Contact Preferences
The final step to customizing your Brand is adding Contact Preferences. Several elements are required in order to save your Brand:
Sender Email Address
Sender Name
The option to add a Website Address is not required, but can assist the recipients of your newsletters in following up on action items that you send, and give credibility to the sender.
You also have the ability to add a mailing address and phone number by toggling the button beside Contact Information.
Save and Create Brand
Save and Create Brand
Once you've finalized your Brand information, you must Save Brand in order for your work to save. The Brand will not autosave, so this is an important step.
Beneath the Contact Preferences space, you'll see a dark purple button label Save Brand. Click this option, and you'll know that the work is saved when you're redirected back to the Active Brands landing page.
Selecting Cancel will remove all work.
Editing a Brand
Editing a Brand is very similar to creating a Brand. To start, navigate to Brands under Engage. From here, there are two options for editing a Brand.
First, you can select the three action dots beside the name of a Brand from the Active tab. This will open editing option.
The second option is by clicking the name of the Brand. This opens the Brand Assets page, where you can select the Edit Brand button in the upper right corner.
Options for Editing
Once created, almost everything in a Brand is editable.
Note: If a Brand has been used for a published Newsletter, the Brand Name cannot be changed. This space will be greyed out. It's better to Archive the brand and start over.
The following options be edited:
Primary Color
Link Color
Logo
Favicon
Shared Organizations
All Contact Preferences
Archiving a Brand
Archiving a Brand removes the ability for users to select it when creating a Newsletter. It is similar to deletion.
Note: While it is possible to unarchive a Brand, all scheduled content from an archived Brand will be cancelled, so double check the Scheduled tab in Newsletters before using the Archive option.
To archive a Brand, choose Brands from the Engage menu. On the Active tab, hover over the Brand you'd like to remove. Click the three action dots that appear, and choose Archive.
A warning about scheduled content will appear. Click Archive a second time to finalize the process.
Unarchiving a Brand
It is easy to recover an Archived Brand.
Select Brand on the Engage menu. Then, select the Archived tab, located to the right of the Active tab.
Hover over the Brand you'd like to recover, and select the three action dots. Select Unarchive. The page will refresh, with your unarchived Brand now located under the Active tab.
Bulk Granular Engage Permissions
To speed up assigning roles Brand Admins can apply permissions in bulk. To start, select the Users tab in the top left corner of the screen. After getting to the users screen, select the Bulk Actions button and either select:
Update Users
