What's an Announcement?
An announcement is a one-way push of information that is sent out to every student and guardian in your class.
Announcements are delivered to students and guardians as a post on the Home Stream, and most importantly, a notification that they will receive directly on their phone.
How to create an announcement
To create an announcement, click on the Announcement tab at the top of the Stream. An announcement box will appear allowing you to type out an announcement, format it, and include external links within the announcement.

While creating an announcement, you can upload up to ten files, and up to ten different links.
When adding a photo to your announcement, you will need to fill out the Alt Text field that appears. Alt text is required in order to maintain ADA compliance and ensure that users with visual impairments can fully use Rooms.

If you have multiple classes or sections, you may have an announcement that needs posted to more than one location. In Rooms, you can post an announcement to multiple classes at the same time.
To start, enable the Post to multiple classes toggle and select which classes to send that announcement to from the drop down menu. Once chosen, send your message, and it will be copied to all locations selected.

To schedule an announcement to be sent at a future date, click the Schedule button at the bottom of the announcements screen located to the left of Share Now. In the popup that appears select the date and time you want the announcement to be sent out.
To edit a scheduled message:
Click the Current dropdown at the top of your announcements and select Scheduled. This will change your announcement view to only those that have not gone out yet.
To edit, duplicate or delete a posted announcement:
Hover your mouse over the announcement, and the three dots ... will appear in the top right corner of the post square. Once it is clicked, it will show an the options to edit, duplicate, and delete the announcement.

In Rooms, it is possible to discern who in your class has seen your announcement.
Click the purple Seen by _ participants option underneath your announcement, and then a pop up box will appear that shows you at a glance who has seen and not seen your announcement.
Announcements will additionally show, the status of the invite of a user if they have not signed in. If someone has successfully logged in, the status will change to symbols and show either an open eye for seen, or eye with a line through it if a person has not seen the announcement.
Additionally, you can select to remove inactive users from view, and export to a CSV.
